Remember when I said I used to think I was the smart one in the relationship, but now that title goes to Dave? Well, this is a pretty big reason why. I'm talking about that bright, white, beautiful shag rug, standing out like a sore thumb between Jude and Juno. I wish I could say this was one of my rash decisions, but no, no, it's not.
The carpet in here is old and dark brown. It's not my fave, but we're renting so it stays. I thought, and thought, and thought about a rug for this room. Not wanting to spend too much, wanting something that would brighten up the drab carpet, and also wanting something pretty basic/unpatterned since the walls in our family room are wallpapered with seagrass (this house has some quirks, to say the least). So, I found this 6 x 9 rug on Overstock, and visited it each day. Knowing I shouldn't even be considering it due to the fact that we have a dog who does enjoy being muddy and a soon to be toddler who likes smearing graham crackers around. But, still I considered it. And when one day I checked and it was on sale for $30 less + free shipping, I thought to hell with it and I bought it.
Fast forward 2 weeks. Crockett and I are sitting on it, admiring it, me trying to justify it. I soon develop a serious case of buyer's remorse. The situation gets worse when I hear, "well I just think you're gonna be paranoid about it the whole time," "you're just gonna freak out," "it won't be white for long." So, I look into returning it. No dice. Shipping costs aren't worth it and neither is my time hauling it to be shipped. So, then I post it on KSL classifieds. Where it still stands. The last time I asked Crockett if we'd had any calls, he just said, "Looks like we got ourselves a shiny, new rug." {So understanding that guy.} And after I smacked my head against the wall a few more times, I came to the same conclusion.
PS: This is what it's like every time I try to get a picture of Jude.

PPS: Jude's already spinnin' tricks on his bike.
you're getting good at this blogging stuff. i lurve it. and the rug, too.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what happens when I try to get a pic of the babe around here! Dog in the frame, every time. All my shots have at least a paw in them.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya on the rug. We had this http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30151709 one in my office, where I loved it. Then under the kitchen table, where I also loved it. But worried about it. Now it's in the living room, and I'm happy. It's still white, but it's also under a black coffee table.
