Cheap Tricks

This cheap trick brought to you courtesy of Crockett.
After moving into a house with a dishwasher, we were pretty bummed to find that it didn’t really “clean” our dishes.  Instead, they came out with a white, pasty film.  But, by some mystery, Dave ended up talking about his woes at work (he cares about his dishes!) and his friend had a solution.

Here it is:
add about 2T of white vinegar to each load
(we just pour it into a measuring cup on the top rack and start her up)
Dishes come out squeaky clean!
Legit.

A little research and I found that the white sticky film is due to new earth-friendly dish detergent regulations eliminating phosphates, which helps oxygen levels in the water and that keeps the fish alive.  Legit squared.
**I’ve heard that baking soda also works well—just throw in a heaping tablespoon and you’re good to go.  Have you guys had similar issues?  What have you found that works for you?
