My Surprise 30th

I guess this post should start with the fact that I hinted for a whole year about the surprise party Dave was throwing me for my 30th.  I'd casually spill the beans in front of friends (and Dave) in random conversations about their Memorial Day weekend involving me...and my 30th.  Thing is, I was JOKING.  My surprise party dreamz fizzled back when I turned 16.  My parents got my best friend to throw me one.  Only no one told me to even get ready for the day.  I left the house for a drive up the canyon with my frizz-dried hair, no make-up & zits face, only to return to a house full of friends.  I was mortified, and decided then and there surprise parties weren't for me.

So, I guess I thought by dropping so many obvious hints about a party, that there'd be no way I'd get one.

Joke was on me.  Although Crocket isn't typically a planner, when he puts his mind to it, anything can happen.  I'd have never thought he could pull a real number on me, but he did.  Tricked me into thinking we were going over for pre-drinks at Meisha's, and then dinner with friends.  So when we pulled up and everyone's car was there, I thought nothing of it.  When we walked in and everyone yelled, "SURPRISE!" I thought we were still going out to dinner.  Nevermind all the streamers and balloons.  Ha!

And after I got over my initial shock, and embarassment, I managed to mingle a bit and have fun!   I have no clue how much planning and scheming was due to Dave and/or Meisha.  But I do know that Meish hosted a garage sale that morning and still managed to have her house spic n' span with a smile on her face by that evening, which is no small feat, and I still feel I owe her BIG time, for letting us have so much fun at her expense (Really Meish, next time you turn 30, I'm your girl!).

This night redeemed surprise parties in my eyes.  Fun times suckin' in the helium and singin' songs--reliving our old crazy stories--realizing we've come a long way since those days--still laughing at the best (and worst) of our inside jokes.

21 & Legal. FINALLY!

Thanks Dave, and Meish, and everyone else who came and made me feel special and truly loved...you love me, you really love me. ;)

PS:  Ironically, I got a new camera for my birthday, but then took very few pictures.  Go figure.
