Aha! Parenting

Came across this article and thought I'd share...although it doesn't apply directly to me just quite yet, I do believe it has some brilliant tips on setting limits and getting what you want from your kids. 

A reader writes, "Dr. Laura – I'm not one of those 'Count to 3 and They Jump' parents.  I was raised that way and it always seems to involve threats and harshness. But I do want my kids to listen to me, and to take No for an answer.  For instance, when I say 'It's time to clean up' they ignore me unless I yell.  What's the secret?" -- Danielle

Can you relate?  I know I can just from my nannying/babysitting/auntying days.  Plus Jude's been known to throw a legit tantrum these days so I know it's-a-coming.

  1. good tips. thank you! i've also found that giving two choices to the child (both that are acceptable to you), makes them feel empowered and you still get your way!
