Leland: 7 months

Here we go...onto the 7th (or is it 8th?) month.
Well, you are 7 months now, which ever it is.  You got a fever of 104 when the day you turned 7 months, and I basically wore you around the next 3 days.  Poor little bubs.  You liked to be in the Moby with your face covered and then you would fall asleep on me (see below).

What's new this month?

You laugh at yourself, like you sit on the floor, and bob up and down, and then you laugh at yourself bouncing.  Cuz it's fun, right?  I laugh too.

You are curiouser and curiouser.  If you see my iPhone, you want.  If you see my sunglasses, you want.  You get a little look on your face that is very, very, curious.  It's like you know that's not your usual toy.  And you reach and arch, and push around to get these things.

It's blurry, but I keep coming back to this picture.  Something about it I love.  The toes?  The squishy wrapped arms?

Now you can roll from your back to belly.  A new skill!

You want to move, you'll make little whines and grunts about it, but I'm not sure how soon you will actually be moving?  I still think we got a little bit before crawling (hopefully?).

Jude is constantly taking your toys.  We try and make him give you at least something else to play with.  So far, you don't freak out, but I know it's coming.  Most of the time, he takes them out of love--to show you how to play with them, but still.

Sleeping.  You take a couple daytime naps.  Usually a long one in the morning (2 hours) and then a shorter one in the afternoon (1-1.5 hours).  You are a great napper.  You've slept through the night for the last weekish, just all on your own.  No crying it out necessary, which is awesome.  So, on a good day now you sleep from 7-7.  And you like to sleep on your side, or on your tummy with your face smashed against the crib.  When we put you to bed, you pull your Ziggy up over your face so its completed covered.

Naps with me--I'm thinking this phase of life is over. The last time I tried, was an hour of you grabbing my hair, picking my nose, scratching my face, kicking my chest.  I just couldn't get you to calm down!  It was pretty funny, but then we both ended up being pretty tired.

Even though I'll miss staring at your sleeping face, and hearing your soft hush as your head is nuzzled up next to me, I'm loving this baby phase with you.  I love looking over at you and seeing you grin and shake with excitement.  Everything is a new discovery, and you've started to do the "look Mom!" face when you've got something cool or done something new (like splashing in the bath tub--you constantly look up at me for reassurance and with a small grin, like "are you seeing this??"  Cute.)

Over tired, don't want your jammies on!

My last attempt nap with you...

PS: Jude @ 7 months

  1. He is one beautiful little baby with a disposition to match. I love his curiosity although he might get whiplash he turns his head so fast at new noises. I also love the way he puts his binkie in his mouth by himself and calmly sucks a way while he watches the world. good job mom and dad.
