Although I still look like a Fraggle, I must say I'm feeling pretty dang productive this fine Saturday morning! The main reason is because when Jude woke up at 6:00, I decided to stay up. He and I got dressed, made some coffee and hung out until 7:00...and when we couldn't stand it anymore, we called Gigi. She came down to pick me up for the Farmer's Market. I think Dave was very relieved she decided to go, so that he could stay home and slumber! We've been talking about going all summer, but keep finding our bed to be too cozy.
It was a nice morning to be out and about for sure. Then when I got home, I fed Jude, took a little snooze, and then gave him a bath. He doesn't know quite what to think of bath time--just stares at me like, "whoa mom, what are we doing here??" But, at least he only squeals when I have to wash his head...
And all this I got done by 11:00. Usually, I'm just washing my face by this time. Woot, woot! Actually, I won't really feel my day is fully complete unless I manage to drag myself out back and weed. Judging by my mood, the forecast for that one isn't lookin' too good.
And as for little Jude: he seems to be establishing a little routine for himself, which has been nice. I can pretty much tell by the time of day which feedings he'll stay awake for, and which ones he'll make a half-hearted attempt. He's also managed to sleep about 6 hours in a row the last couple of days. He spent his first night in his crib last night, and must admit I felt a bit lonely without him there in the bassinet. To make sure we heard his cries, both Dave and I put a monitor handset on our nightstands--so we got Jude in stereo surround sound in the wee hours of the night. Here is to being paranoid first time parents!
amazing what a little sleep will do for the soul
ReplyDeleteHe is getting so roly poly! I hope you get lots of time for breaks and even some time to shop. We can sleep all day if we wish. I would trade in a heartbeat if I thought I could handle him.
ReplyDeleteI love the days when you feel so accomplished before the lunch hour! You are such a great Mommy... Jude is lucky to have you!
