Remember how my sis took on a project when I was pregnant by snapping pics of me every 2 weeks? And then she did some newborn pics of Jude and tried to pretend that that was the finale of her "project"? Nice try! Somehow we suckered her into taking 2 month and now 3 month pictures of JudeBear. In her defense, it's hard to say no to a sweet gummy smile, big blue eyes, and a bald head. It really is. Rach, I love all of these photos! They make me smile from the inside out, and so I'd like to thank you for being obsessed with your camera, having an eye for detail, and liking to hang out with me.
Disclaimer: most of this info is just baby stuff I want to remember about Jude. If you want to know what life's like for a 3 month old baby, read on...
One way Jude gets his tummy time in is for me to put him up on my knees (aka "Ria-Ria-Runka" a song my mom made up when we were babes). He'll get the biggest grin when I get up close and give him kisses. And loves when you pull his arms up over his head.
Another thing I do with Jude all the time is lay next him on my bed, and tell him stories or watch him kick around. There's something so magical about being up-close with a baby. They just stare at you like you're so talented because you can move your lips and make funny sounds. Secretly, I always hope when we're playing on the bed that Jude will fall asleep next to me, and we can take our naps together. But, this rarely happens and when it does, I end up kicking myself.
Speaking of naps, when I see him yawn a time or two, I'll try to start winding him down. So I'll lay him in my arms and walk around the house. He's usually pretty cool with it, since he can still watch what's going on. BUT, literally the minute I walk into his dark room or flip off the lights, he starts squirming and crying. Walk back out, happy camper. Walk back in, mad baby. That my friends is called communication.
He's also started "talking" in his sleep. I don't really know what else to call it. I just know it sounds like a half cry/half yodel, and that I won't be fooled into thinking he's ready to wake up when he does this any longer! I did this last week, and he was a crank butt the rest of the day. If you watch him do it, his eyes stay closed the whole time. Lately, his favorite time to practice this trick is about 3 am...
Jude loves, loves, loves his hands. He sucks on them most of the day. In fact, I believe it's this obsession that has sabotaged his binky sucking skills. They just knock it right out the second you put it in.
But I also love, love, love his little hands. I love to play with them while I'm feeding him. And I love how he got Dave's hands. It's one of the first features I noticed about Dave. His dwarf mine, and when we hold hands, it makes me feel like Beauty & the Beast.
Jude now swats at and reaches for toys. And he'll also grab for his feet. Jude seems his happiest when he is on the diaper changing table. I can always do something to make him laugh when he's getting his diaper changed.
At 3 months, I would describe Jude as content, smiley, aware, observant, and sweet. He's chill where ever you decide to put him, will grin anytime you catch his eye, loves to look allll around, likes sitting on the porch watching the haps of the neighborhood, and loves to have staring contests when he is tired.
This is a Jude Stare-down.
That raised eyebrow? Are you kidding me? So cute!
And last, but not least: The Who's He Look Like Game
This is one game I actually like playing!
At this point, Jude is looking more and more like me. I will admit. It's all in the eyes--which is really the defining feature for babies. Yeah? This pic in particular he looks a lot like my baby pictures. Mom & Dad--do you agree??
But his profile is all Dave's. Check it out! And really, I think as he gets older he'll start to look more & more like his Dada--the chin, the forehead, the lips--also Dave's. I still say he has his dad's nose as well, but most think it's a hybrid of some sorts.
He is getting so big! Stop it, Jude! :)
ReplyDeleteanything for my #1 assistant!
ReplyDeleteLis! You are such a cute mom and you make really really cute kids. Here's to bald babies!!

ReplyDeleteJoanna Goddard comments on this blog too? Well, you are most definitely almost famous then. wow! Feel good about yourself for that:)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you read my blog, I love looking at yours too & keep thinking "why wasn't I better friends with these Handy girls in highschool"? Your Jude is so so adorable!
Keep posting & say hello now! (i'll do the same:)
I love, love Rachel's pictures. Oh how I wish she lived here and needed another project! Rachel, I lie not when I tell you that I find your photos fresher and prettier than those of the last two professional photographers I've hired. And I am pretty persnickity/snobby about admiring photos, since photographers are a dime a dozen and so much the same.
ReplyDeleteLisa, you're a real-life model, so that helps, too.
I am so glad you love the boots! Target. How pedestrian, eh? Mini-Star is Target's answer to Robeez, and a lot less dough. I like Sidse's pink ones because she has nice, fat block feet like her mom and the moccasin-like styles give her nice red lines.
Happy three months, Jude! Well, more like four. Sidse turns seven months on Saturday, and it is fun and sad at the same time.
These pictures are so beautiful it's insane! Oh, your little Jude is the cutest!
