Jude: 6 months

Baby Jude is 6 months and the stats are in:

Weight: 20 lbs 8 oz (95th percentile)

Length: 29 inches (97th percentile)

 

At SIX months:

Jude sleeps about 11 hours--straight through the night.  Jude had been a pretty good sleeper up until the time he got his first cold and started to teeth.  Then, he started getting up every 3 hours.  Once he got better, we had 1 night of "sleep training" and he was back to long stretches--and by sleep training I mean crying it out.  That was seriously hard, but what can you do--we went in to soothe him and he just got more upset.  So, I just had to sit in bed, with the monitor pressed against my ear while he wailed away, and pray that he'd calm down.  Worked. like. a. charm.  Then we had 2 hard nights again of "sleep training" when we got back from Boise, but now it's alllll good.

Naps are another issue.  Since he's a good night time sleeper, the doctor just told us to count our blessings...some kids are just cat nappers.  He takes an hour long morning nap, and afternoon--well, it's anyone's guess.  He's still a happy little guy either way, just doesn't offer much in predictability.  We're going to keep trying with this one.

Little bubs now regularly practices his "B" sounds.  For weeks, I've watched him try, but just blow out air.  But now, he babbles, and babbles.  My favorite is how he'll take a break from nursing to say a few lines and look around.  I just sit and watch his little chin and cheeks bounce around.  I say, favorite cuz it's so dang cute, but Jude's also learning that he can look around more when he gets a bottle...so here's to hoping he stays a versatile eater.

Speaking of eating, Jude tried some real food!  We started to out with baby oatmeal--with mixed reviews.  He kept going for more, but his face would shake with disgust.

Moobs--as in man boobs.  I really wanted to say baby boobs--but when you combine them you just get boobs.  So how bout baboobs?

Jude now has 2 teeth.  He got his 2 bottom teeth at the same time at 5 1/2 months.  And I think he's got another one coming in...he sucks on his lips a lot these days.

He learned to roll-over back to front, and is getting pretty good at it.  He also sits up, tri-pod style.

Jude loves to laugh and gets so excited that he'll have to turn away and grab a hold of himself (or you).  Jude loves to watch little kids play (particularily loves silly little Ava at the moment) and also watching Juno scamper around the house.  He'll do what it takes to make sure he has a decent view of those two.

He continues to be a happy, calm little guy--seemingly thinking deep thoughts and absorbing the world around him.  He'll pretty much let anyone hold him, loves being tickled and gives a perfect shy smile to strangers.
