Happy Halloween Time!
Since we already had this owl hat, I had an idea to make him a real-live, home-made owl costume and enlisted my mama's help. Well, she pretty much ended up making the whole thing (minus the feet, that was my work) and it took her wayyyy longer than expected. Of course! But I sure do love how it turned out, and am so grateful my mom can sew!
This year we headed out to Rachel's neck of the woods to trick-or-treat. Jude was on a mission. I think he could smell the sugar wafting out of people's houses. It was all business, and I think he pretty much scammed every house into giving him more candy than they allotted. If they said "take one"--he took two. If they said "take two"--he took three. And if they didn't say, he always, always said, "can I hab a-nother?" Then I'd say, "no, that's what you get" (trying to teach him the ways of the world, you know!). But, then they'd always say, "oh of course you can have another!"
I tried a many a times to steal a candy bar or five from his pumpkin, but with no luck! Jude had that thing on lock-down and alligator tears at the ready. He was, afterall, working really hard to get all that candy.
This was the 2nd year in a row that we had 70 degree weather for Halloween. Sure makes for a nice strool vs. the snowy Halloweens I remember. We came back to find Leland snug as a bug snoozin in his pumpkin hat...
We headed home with a very FULL tiny plastic pumpkin. And even though we are onto learning about the upcoming holidays--Tom Turkey and SANTA, of course, if you ask Jude, he'll still tell you he's going to be an owl for Halloween and Cruz is going to be a pumpkin for Halloween.
