LELAND.
Here he is in all his shining glory, at 10 days old. I bet you are wondering if we have any recent pictures of him. And the answer to that is...not as many as we should!
This photo says so many things to me about our first days at our new home with Leland. I can still feel how the room felt. Clean, but scrambled. New, but construction dusty. My side with the bassinet, and Dave's with 2 nightstands, and 2 lamps. And a fresh coat of mermaid green paint (yes, this color has gotta go, but it'll stay in my memory forever). In these first days, I would sit and nurse Leland and stare out our bedroom window at our giant tree full of vibrant yellow leaves.

For now, little bird legs. Soon, rolls of chub.
Dark hair that soon will fade. I make bald babies.
So very concerned, that face! Even today, Leland still stares at me like this. I think he looks so much like Dave here.
Little details. Rach insisted on taking a picture of his nose with the little white bumbs, a sign of his newness. Already these have faded away, as with his hair! And those who know me...I do believe Leland inherited my belly button, if that is even possible. They are the same.
Those lips!! Those lips complete his little pixie face. I die.
We have a picture of Jude hanging up in this exact same pose, with the exact same blanket. And now, this one of Leland hangs beneath it. My boys. :)
Oh wow! I did not even know you'd had your baby yet, Lisa. Where was your dad's email announcement this time?! Tell him to get on it. :) Anyway, darling baby, you did so great. Congratulations, Lisa, on bringing another sweet little person to this world. Welcome, Leland! (I'll have to share with my husband what his name is--now we both have Lelands and Davids in our families. David's middle name is Leland, after his grandpa Leland. Up until now, I'd never seen another boy under 80 with that name!)
