Well.
I can finally & actually & literally say that our hall bath is finished!
As in,
FINITO!
And now that it is, I can say it was all well worth all the blood (no one), sweat (dave, + a whole bunch of other people), and tears (that would be me).
I freaking love it.
BEFORE
We started the demolition so quick after closing that this is the only picture I have of it completely intact before. Blue + pink tile, a pink toilet, a pink tub, blue molding, and crazy chandelier lights that belong elsewhere!
DURING
This is the part where you can imagine me thinking everything was going to get done before Leland arrived. Seriously, the demo went quick, and the mess was disgusting. I was ready for everything to quickly move forward...
PROGRESS
This is the part where you can imagine me crying, and pleading. Will the tile get put up today? No, next week? Will the tile get grouted today? No, next week? And you can imagine me dragging my pregnant self down there in the wee hours of the morning (4 am) on my days off to clean up/do what I could before Jude was awake and Dave went to work. We thought the custom cabinets would take the longest to get because usually there is a 5 week turn-around. They actually came like a week after we ordered them thanks to Jacob. Thankful for that...but, I still kept on freaking out and crying over everything else.
AFTER
Ta-da!!! This previously cramped & narrow bathroom now feels light and airy. Here is where I highlight my bright idea of turning a vessel sink into a farmhouse type of sink. Really happy with how it turned out and saved us some $$.
And now you get the title of my post. I guess "Aslan" isn't for everyone's taste, but we love him. We bought him for $35 bucks from eBay and then spray painted him white. At first Jude was pretty freaked, but now he tells anyone (& himself) that "the lion protects us and keeps us safe." Ha!
Tile shot! I wanted hexagon tile, and found some for $5/sq ft on overstock. But then I saw this for $2.25/sq ft at home depot and decided the effect would be the same. I'm glad I went with the cheaper option too because at the time I didn't realize how quickly things would add up.
Fell in love with some pendant lights that were $100/each. Sheesh! Needless to say when it came time to get the lights and install, we decided those weren't a necessity. Picked these ones up for $15/each thanks to a coupon from World Market. Simple and I love them just as much.
Imagine a shower head that we don't have to shrink down to get under. This baby is 6'6" high.
OK. And I couldn't leave out the sink faucet. Also known as Dave's Shining Moment of Glory. This was practically the only thing that Dave requested and insisted upon during the whole remodel...he wanted a faucet that looked like it "poured" out water. Glad he did, I really love it...
...and so does Jude.
{It's perfect for washing polar bears!}
Hopefully I'll post some Master bath pics soon too...
it turned out so amazing! you really put things together so well. i LOVE the way that faucet water feels and that is no lie. It's luxurious! one day, in the far off 10yr future, will you help me with my 90's baths??
ReplyDeleteWow! I love it! For real looks like it's from a magazine. Strong work@
