Little Man, where does the time go? This time last year, I was really prepping myself for when I would start to feel sick. I knew it would hit around the 6 week mark and so I made myself paint a bathroom before then. Ha!
And now you are 4 months.
Rach asked me the other night what the biggest difference was between you and Jude. I hadn't really thought about it, and so at first I responded with your 0-60 temper. Although, I'm not sure that holds true any longer. But, it hit me today, while watching you in the exersaucer, just how easy it is to see that we all are born with certain qualities. With our personalities. You see, Jude has always been such an inspector. I can remember putting him in the exersaucer at 4 months and he would just analyze those toys. With you, your main goal is to catch my eye. You are kinda like, "hey, this is cool cuz I can see everyone." The toys are great if you can get them in your mouth, but man how you love some attention and a chance smile, smile, smile.
Look at us--we are SO ready for a nap. My very favorite time. |
This past month was a big one. You started daycare. I was worried because you have been such a little squealer. You have loved to held, and rocked to sleep. I had visions of you crying and crying at daycare. But, it's like you read my mind. Oh how mellow you are now. And easy to put to sleep! Lord, what an amazing thing! I just pop that binky in, and rock you a few times. You squirm like, put me down! So I do. You look to your side and find the circle banner hanging on the wall by your crib and then wiggle those little arms up to your face and cover your eyes. Lights out! Cherie tells me you are a dream, and it makes my heart happy.
You are a cuddle bug, and that also makes my heart happy. All the time, I just love to kiss your chubby cheeks and round head.
Possibly my favorite thing is your little eyebrow "flick". It's so quick, it's easy to miss. Watch out! You are a total flirt.
You have really found your voice and love to shriek and coo LOUDLY.
You have also started to let out little sad/mad shrieks when you are playing on your mat and you see that I leave.
Hand sucking? Yes please. Your poor hands (and cheeks) are rubbed raw from your lip smacking.
Totally see Dave in this pic |
Sleeping? Goodness, I'd like to put you on a schedule, but most days we just wing it. You wake up around 7 and I take you out of your crib and nurse you in my bed...bad habit? Possibly, but I try to keep Jude asleep as long as possible! So, you nurse and fall back to sleep with us til bout 8. Then nap again around 10-10:30 and sleep 1.5 hours+ Then play time, and back down around 1 for 1.5+ hours, and then all over again around 3. You seem ready for bed-bed at like 6:30 or 7:00. If Jude is really quiet when he goes into bed, you'll sleep til 1-2 am. And then sometimes you're up again at 4-5, and sometimes you sleep all the way 'til 7. It's getting closer and closer to the time when I feel comfortable letting you cry it out. I'm dreading it. Truly. But also, looking forward to it. Truly.

JUDE @ 4 MONTHS
Awesome!
ReplyDeleteDude! It's like Matthew, but younger. He still nurses a few times a night, and I can't claim he's predictable in terms of a schedule. I've given up the idea that he'll sleep through the night--and he's nine months old tomorrow! And I love nursing before a nap and napping together...although heart breaker, he seems to have grown out of that. Sigh. But at least he'll sleep in his crib. Leland's a cutie, such a sweetheart!
ReplyDeleteAAHHHH, I love the pictures of sweet little Leland. the one with dave is super cute! how did you get two incredibly good natured easy going babies. You are soo lucky.
