Some pinteresting things
Not gonna say I'm addicted to pinterest--cause that would be lying.
But I will say I'm pin-dicted, which is a term I just made up and I better just go ahead and pin before anyone else does.
So this post is all about my pin-diction and my attempts to clean up my act, by which I mean really do the things I pin. So here we go....
PIN no. 1
When I saw this outfit, I repinned and commented something like, "Like and Have!!"
Next, I went straight away to my sister's closet and grabbed the shirt, the cardi, and the shoes. Days later she saw the pin and responded something like, "cough, choke....yes you do! and i like!!" Which made me laugh, cuz now all you fellow pinners see my pin and think the clothes are mine (all mine!), but that's where you're dead wrong. Suckers.
PIN no. 2
I totally didn't take a picture of my own "zucchini ziti" but honestly, you should thank me for that. It woulda been really redundant. It looks just like this picture. Promise. I pinned this recipe because it's made in a crockpotter, and I'm determined to use mine more. The recipe was really good. And simple. And made with whole wheat pasta and veggies--all good things. The one thing I will say is that the crockpot cook time is only like 2 hours...not enough time to have it cook all day while you're gone, but too long to really make for dinner after a day at work. Basically, you could make this without the whole crockpot appeal. Just sayin'.
PIN no. 3
I saved toilet paper rolls for weeks for this thing. And luckily, I have a friend who just so happens to save all her old TP rolls (that's a whole other blog post, folks) and that really sped things up.
And here's mine. It's still a work in progress, since I think I'd like to spray paint it a darker color (like charcoal gray?) or at least put on another coat of white. Plus, I'm making a couple more in different sizes to hang along my wall so it's like a set. What do ya think? Not to shabby for being $free.99, right?
Until next time.

Weekend Getaway
We're baaaaaack! From our little happy-(early)-anniversary-to-us-trip. We had such a great time, as this picture so clearly illustrates.
I'll be uploading the rest tomorrow...today was all about soaking up Lil' Jude. We missed him so.
PS: New blog layout. Yes/No?

Thriftin'
Jude now wakes up from his afternoon nap at that uber weird time of day--mid-afternoon.
It's not early enough to make dinner, and not early enough to bug/beg Dave to come home from work.
The other day I was too lazy to get him all ready and take him for a little swim, but not lazy enough to stay at home and watch him tottle around. You know, one of those moods where you're bored, but not willing to be productive? Can you relate?
So, we went a thrifting. Because I was reminded that we have a brand-new (read: non-smelly) Saver's in our area, and because everywhere I turn, someone on the internet is making me jealous with all their "vintage" finds.
I walked in, perused the aisles, and grabbed what jumped out at me. I was there maybe a 1/2 hour. Spent 30 bucks. And came out with some pretty good loot.
Can you tell which item I adore the most? That blush skirt. It kills. It was $3.50 and is in mint condition. It was listed as a size 1-2, which I think musta deterred some shoppers--but not this gal. Had to try it on, even if it meant risking it getting stuck on my thigh, even if it meant Jude getting out of the cart and crawling around the dressing room picking up dust bunnies. Magically, it fit. (and definitely not a size 1-2, if you are wondering if I dropped 20 pounds in that dressing room as well).
What about you? Do you find time/make time to visit 2nd hand shops? Any thrifting tips for a newbie like me? I definitely wanna go back and do it again.
But next time, I'm draggin' the sister.
She's back and I'm beaming.

Comma Master
Do you feel your grammar/punctuation/spelling skills dwindling?
For me, that answer is a definite YES.
I just can't remember when to use what.
So to cover my bases, I just slap things in any old place.
A self-made punctuation system if you will...
Perhaps, you too, are familiar with:
the double hyphen (--a necessity to help break up your thoughts)
the three periods (...not only for those times to be continued...)
the double question mark (cuz when is one question mark ever enough??)
the question mark-exclamation point (say what?!?!)
Am I all alone here??
Is my comma usage drivin' you up a wall??
Or do you agree??
All I know is I'd like to have better grammar--but until then, at least I have my back-up...

Late Night Confessions
*I'm so tired right now that I don't want to get up--let alone shower, wash face, brush teeth, make lunch, pick outfit.
*In a way, I truly feel like I've missed out on some sort of right of passage on motherhood. Like when I hear stories of how others moms bounce their babies "just so" or swaddle or whatever just to keep their baby calm or entertained. Jude's been so chill wherever/whatever/whoever it's like he's my imaginary dream baby....that being said, Karma, come and get me. ;)
*I've had a little pebble bumbling around in my shoe for 2 weeks now. Instead of taking my shoe off and dumping it out, I just wiggle my foot around 'til it doesn't bother me.
*So many peeps I know are pregnant that I feel like whenever we get pregnant again I'll already be sick of it.
*I really can't fathom Dave's patience and attitude most the times. Basically every random little task I ask of him, he responds with an easy "yes." Can you pick this up from the store? Yes. I forgot to water the flowers, could you? Yes. Can you make lasagna tomorrow? Yes. And so on. Honestly, if we do a role reversal here--the answer is "not gonna happen."
*Being an adult is hard--I need to set up Jude's educational fund, meet with a financial advisor about our financial goals, and be a better saver. Life was easier when my parents sent me a check each month. Oh college days!
*My car needs to be washed. Like STAT.
*Coming home and deciding what to make for dinner is a real stressor for me, other than the fact that Jude and I both really like standing in front of an open fridge. Meal planning 101, please.
*I wish Juno wasn't all up in my grill most times. It'd be nice to be able to sit on the floor with Jude and not have a dog stare deep into my eyes 5 inches away.
*I never run into or see anyone up close when I take Juno for her walk, so tonight I wore what I had on. Tank top, no bra. Saw 3 people, (1 neighbor) and 5 kids. Have you ever tried to nonchalantly cover up your banana boobs? Not easy. And not cool.
*I think this summer is almost the best summer ever. I [thumbs-up] summer. OK, you're right. I [2thumbs-up] summer.

summer fave list
...using flavored green teas to make my sun tea...
(been reading quite a little bit about this stuff-- & very good evidence for cancer prevention and there's research looking into isolating compounds for cancer treatment! drink it. it's legit.)
...making smoothies, of course...
...wearing this...
life has been a roller coaster of emotions lately with some family news, and this necklace honestly has been so helpful! it keeps me focused on the present, and i love how simple and understated it is around my neck.
...living in these...
straight up. no lie. i'm a new never-nude.
(except mine are actually old navy, dang it!)
...loving this weather...
oh hello, mid-july!!
...using this as my eye make-up remover and also on my legs and feet at night...
SPOILER ALERT
...singing this...
i couldn't leave out my fave new movie.
this song has been stuck in my head for weeks, with little complaint.
an oldie, but a goodie.
what about you? anything i should add to my fave list?

I love summer.
Trying different ways to make sun tea. Mixin' flavored herbal teas with plain ol' Lipton tea.
Any combo, it just tastes right.
I love summer.

Easier said than done??
What do ya think? Still not a pro with the bobby pins, but love this original look. Hmmm. Do I waste my precious time while Jude is a nap-nap-napping? I think yes.

Bloggers Block
Just kidding--I'm blogging now, aren't I? Truth is, I feel like I have 'bout a bazillion ideas just waiting to be put to blog, but not the time, not the free time at least. I'll get to them eventually, though!
Just this week I applied for a couple of jobs that might enable me to spend some more time at home. Ah, now that would be nice, yeah? Send some good vibes my way.
Today was a nice, easy day. It went something like this:
workout
play with baby
nap while he naps
take a walk to see the haps of the neighborhood
clean while baby naps
go to the mall
make dinner
rock my baby to sleep.
A nearly ideal day.

Newborn Jude
Feelin' good because Jude's fallen asleep on my chest twice this week. It sends me over the moon, and I feel like I have a little newborn again--the only difference is that he sings himself to sleep.

UO
So then, is it complete disaster that I really actually want this? It is on sale after all, and I know I could put it to good use. When I'm not wearing it, I can just drape it lazily off of my couch like a regular old throw blanket. If I get one, I'll let you know so you can visualize me at home, doin' the mashed potato in my crazy cool snuggy. Shady Pines, Ma!

jcrew
Feelin' good because I went ahead and ordered two of these. Two because jcrew doesn't have swimsuits in store. Two because I'm hoping at least one will fit right. Good vibes, good vibes.

Feelin' good because this is my new snack of choice (move over almonds in my oatmeal). I even choose it over ice cream. I need to keep tryin' new foods. Turns out, Greek yogurt is the real deal. A tinsy bit lower in sugar, a bit higher in protein. But, it's the texture that really matters. Creamy goodness and really filling. If you try it, you won't be sorry. Promise.

Shady Pines, Ma!
Talking the other day to my friend about our upcoming SoCal trip and it went something like this:
L: OK, yeah. Well all I know is I have to find a swimsuit.
A: Umm, you look for a swimsuit, but I'm not.
L: And I really think I want a one-piece.
L: And I think I need to find a good sun hat.
A: I just need to find a good swim cover-up.
L: OK--but no sarongs.
A: Yeah, something more than that.
And I thought--when did we become the Golden Girls? And why do I always end up being Dorothy?
Anyway, in the spirit of upcoming sunshine (it's still like over a month away) here are some of my *picks*
(Amy, still undecided which GG you are. Possibly a mix of Rose and Sophia...what do you think? I'll let you be Dorothy if you want.)
**Still hoping to hear some of the things that make you "think" spring! Please don't be shy!**

This Sweet Love.
I was digging on this song last night when it came onto Pandora. No idea why these peeps have censored eyes, or why he plays his guitar laying down in bed all uncomfortable-like. Sometimes those artsy types just get the best of me. But the song is good...hey maybe that's it. They're telling you to close your eyes and just listen to the song because when you watch the video it's just not as good. I just came up with that myself.
That just happened.

Dance Kid
In my eyes, this could so easily be Jude one day. It's just in the genes to be a goof, and Juju's already taking after his dad quite a lot. For those of you that know Dave---do you see it?? This is either Dave 20 years ago, or Jude in 10.
See what I mean? He's already practicing the moves.

We Speak No Americano
Wanna get a song stuck in your head? I promise it has nothing to do with pee-peeing the bed....
Wanna know why it gets stuck in mine?
Except I'd like to think our instructors are cooler because they don't ask us how to count in Estonian and they don't say "Boom-diggy-diggy-boom!"
OK I kinda like the boom-diggy-diggy boom part....

I'm Glooowwww-ing!
Went to Sephora with a gift card in hand. Bought The Multiple by NARS after seeing it listed on multiple blogs and in multiple magazines.
Since then I've used it multiple, multiple times. Eyes, cheeks, lips. It's pretty freaking sweet.
So I'd like to send a special shout-out to Amy for giving me a gift card for Christmas. And then a special shout-out to myself for finally getting around to using it...
PS: I like it so much, I even tried it out on Little J. I'm jooook-ing! He's au-naturale, of course.
PPS: Don't hate. I have a hair appointment this Saturday.
