Jude is 3 years old: birthday

Well, now that Jude is 3 years old, he sure does like to tell you.  He makes his hand into a 3 all the time, and also tells me if I'm not nice (or if I don't let him color, have a popsiscle, etc) then I won't get "to invited to my parrrrty."  Well, if he only knew what un-inviting me to his birthday party would really do. ;)

On Jude's birthday, Dave and I stayed up way too late wrapping presents and blowing up a kajillion balloons, that really only looked like 5 balloons when all was said and done.  Jude got a kick out of it, so that is all that really matters.  He woke up on his birthday morning in his usual LOUD way--stomping out of bed, and announcing that "I NEED TO GO POOOOOTTTTTTY."  When I got to the hallway, there he was, already sitting on the potty.  Then he quickly got off, and I helped him with his pants and he said, "I want to play with the balloons."  (Ahh, so he did notice and care, hurrah!).   So we all went in and stomped through some balloons and hit them around.  And every few moments, either Dave and I would say, "Happy Birthday Jude.  You are 3!"  He'd get a smile across his whole face.

After we couldn't stand it anymore, we said, "Jude, do you want to go open you presents?"  He opened each one, and wanted to take time to play with each one for a little, until we prompted him for the next.  This year, he got some PegBuddies Super Heroes, a Little People airport, a bubble machine, a gas station pump, and some swim toys.

Then we made waffles, and I squirted whipped cream in his mouth.  Annnnd, that totally freaked him out, but made us laugh.

And here's a great pic of the two of us--because I'm always bummed that I don't have more pictures of me with my kids.  But then, here is the reason why...hello morning mullet bangs.

We played with the toys some more, and then got ready for the pool.  Gigi, Ava, Slade, and Cruz met us there, and it was the perfect 80 degree day to relax and watch the kids play.  Then, it was home for some naps.  And then, it was too the park for a picnic.  Honestly, an ideal day for any age (except for the part where Cruz and Jude were found spitting on another kid at the park and not letting them play on the pumpkin slide--that was embarassing).

 Reaaaaaady for a nap!

OK, Birthdays--just slow it on down.  I want it to be a lonnnng year before we see you again for #4.

  2. Jude's birthday was such a fun relaxed day. AND, his fourth birthday will come sooo fast, then his 5th, etc. Time flies and with such great moments being created by mom and dad, you will find yourself smiling to yourself when one such moment pops into your head
