Leland: 9 months

Leland,

What a month it has been for you!

At 8 and 1/2 months you started to crawl, and now you are a full-blown explorer. 

Days later you were crawling to things, and pulling up to your knees, then pulling up onto your feet!

You've learned to clap.  It's so dang cute, because you love to clap so much.  When I walk around the car to get you out of your car seat when you see me you instantly start clapping.

I sorta think you know how to wave or what waving is.  You'll just hold out your arm, and move it ever so slightly.

You are just my little buddy.  Today you just crawled around and played by me while I cleaned and what not.

You are a GREAT napper!  When you are tired and we are out, I don't have to do much to get you asleep.  Basically, I can just plop you in your car seat, stick your binky in, and you'll just put yourself to sleep.  At home, you take a long 2 hour morning nap, and then the same in the afternoon.

We love having you two boys in your own rooms! What was I thinking wanting you to share?  I think that was a little premature and I'm happy we have a house with a 3rd bedroom up top so that we could make the switch.

We gone swimming a few times, and we put you in this big wide floaty.  And it's pretty much like your own little walker in the kiddie pool.  You can touch the bottom and you just cruise around and bounce.  You really love it.

This past month you went camping for the first time.  You slept in the camper next to me, and you basically wanted to crawl all night.  I think being close to me would sorta wake you up through out the night, and then you were off!  So, I basically nursed you alllll night long because that is the only way I could figure out how to get you to stay put.

When we drive around in the car, your eyes stay locked on Jude.   You are interested in all big brother is doing and saying.

And this story might just be wishful thinking, BUT you may have said Mama.  It went like this.  I got home from work on a Sunday.  Dad had you up and around crawling in just your diaper while Jude napped.  When you saw me, you got all smiley, but I walked into the kitchen to put my stuff down.  Then I hear the pat-pat-pat of you hands coming around the corner and when you saw me, you gave a little whimper.  I was still standing by the sink doing some things so you crawled closer and went "mammmm mmmm" and I look down with excitement.  Then I scooted a few feet back, and you did the same thing "mammmmmmmmmm mmmm."  Needless to say I picked you up right then and there.  Dad saw the whole thing happen and agrees that this might have been a first word moment.  Because here is the thing.  Up until then, you have never made an "M" noise.  And you really haven't much since.
