40 weeks and Happy Birthday to me!

I made it, I made it all the way to 40 weeks!  Oh so happy to say that my birthday will stay my birthday and that the little guy will have his very own special day.

Now that I'm so close to delivering, I'm basically always thinking--what if...what if.  What if my water breaks at work?  What if I go into labor while my doctor is out of town?  What if I go into labor on Monday night and we forget to take out the recycling??  Seriously--it's maxed out with a bunch of cardboard boxes....

Plus, lately whenever I call people, of course I always get the question, "Are you in labor?"--even before the obligatory "Hello."  My last phone conversation with Dave went like this:

Dave: Hello.
Me: Hi!!
Dave: Hi.....
Me:  I'm just bored at work, thought I'd call and see what's up.
Dave: Ah, geez.  (and then a big sigh of relief and annoyance).
Me: What?
Dave: You realize that everytime I see you call I think you're in labor, right?
Me:  OK, well I'm not.  You want me just not to call you at all anymore then?  Unless the baby's coming?
Then he lightened up, but really I have avoided calling him to spare his delicate heart any unnecessary trauma.

My actual birthday was so very nice and mellow.  Just what I wanted.  First thing when I woke up, I opened my package from Amy.  She bought me cozy, cute yoga/sweat pants that are actually long enough!  Hurray!  Then Crockett said we needed to be somewhere by 9 o'clock--so I begrudgingly took off the yoga pants and made myself look decent.  I couldn't figure out where Dave was taking me because he was going in the opposite direction of all the hip breakfast joints that I could think of.  So imagine my surprise (and err, delight??) when we pulled up in front of IHOP.  Coulda, woulda, shoulda left on those yoga pants!  Well we walked in, and there was the whole  fam (sans Chris & Lawrence & Scott) waiting to have breakfast with me!   Ava gave me a beautiful drawing with Juno and Jude each wrapped in a box with a bow.  And Slade gave me a wonderful picture of a triangle with some scribbles.  Then he told me, "Happy Sisa, Happy Sisa."

Later in the day my mom and I took the dogs to the dog park and walked around as the clouds rolled in.  We left just in time, and just walked in for lunch when the sky literally turned to water.  After that, I got to take a lovely nap, and watch a movie.  Ah lazy, rainy days.  When Dave got home from work, he gave me a dozen roses and took me up to Red Butte Gardens to walk around and look at all the pretty flowers.  It was such a nice night.  We were the only ones there.  The sky was dark blue with clouds, but the sun hit the mountains and filtered through the trees the perfect shade of yellow.  So many beautiful plants and cool ideas-- and we talked about how cool it would be to have an "estate" with a garden just like this-- I would help, and go out in the day and cut bouquets for the house, but we'd also have hired gardeners--he, he.  So fun to dream!

Anyway, that was my birthday. I have a feeling 29 will be a good year. We saw a hummingbird while at the garden, which has got to be a good omen, right?

Funny to think that the next set of pictures on here will be of the baby... we'll keep you posted!
