Shoot, is it really August already?? It is, it is--and that means I only have 24 days left of my maternity leave. BOO! It's true that I do miss all my friends at work, but I can't imagine leaving this guy for 10 hours in a row! For 4 days in a row. Ah, picture me making a really sad face. If you talk to me a lot, you're like, "shut it, lisa!" And if you're my mom, you're like, "just take it one day at a time, sweetie." To which I am trying.
Anyway, here are some random tid-bits from our summer in the last few weeks. Hopefully, I'll be more consistent with the camera in the future...
OK--this is us at Jude's official concert. My dad was nice enough to think of us when he needed to get rid of some Deer Valley concert tix--and as luck would have it, the rest of Dave's family had plans to go as well. I just won't pass up any opportunity where I get to eat my dinner in a lawn chair. Truly. If you think about it, that always means you're out having a good time. Now, just who we saw at the concert, I cannot say...some fellow with a clarinet and the Utah Symphony...and they ended the night with a bang, playing the great 1937 hit, "A Tisket, A Tasket, I Lost My Yellow Basket." Really.
I also managed to make it out to the pool with all my BFFs. Look at little Cruz puffin' ouf his chest, "SO BIG!" And Ava-Boo has become a little daring fish in the last year. And that top pic cracks me up because if you look closely you can see Slade taking back all his toys from the other kid in the pool. Why is it that kids could care less about a toy until someone else plays with it? Do they have some sort of radar device for this sort of thing? In any case, he has his hands full!
We also went "camping" (if you call cabins and flush-toilets camping) with Dave's family this past weekend. We had a boys vs. girls canoe race, and of course, Dave & Lorin won, but Deanna & I were a pretty close second! Have any of you ever competed against Dave? It's all about strategy with him, and he's very good at strah-tee-gery (as he likes to say). So if you ever get a chance, pick Dave for your team and then you won't get annoyed when you hear his victory cackle.
And as a side note, this family is so rad. I could hear them a whole cabin over at night as they played Settlers of Catan-- just roaring with laughter. Really? Can that game be that funny?? Apparently so, but alls I have to say about that is how rad is it that I now have a baby as an excuse to get out of that game?! Boo-yeah!
funny material! will you send me those swimmin' pool pics?
