Pumpkin Carving

Saturday night we had Gramps down and baked a pizza and carved some pumpkins.  Jude somehow managed to color marker allllll over the table without all 3 of us noticing, and Leland pretty much slept through the whole she-bang.

Dave always chooses a stencil and I do one free-hand.  I just like happy, bright pumpkins.  But, ya know, you just don't get the recognition you deserve when you decide to make a one-of-a-kind pumpkin.  People always think the stenciled one is cooler and more artistic.

Here's my secret though: free-handing is easier and quicker.  Which is important.  When I was done, Dave said this:  "Huh.  Surprisingly, yours turned out pretty cool."  So there you go.  My pumpkin recognition for the year!

When we were done, I finished baking the pumpkin seeds, while Dave lit the pumpkins over and over again with Jude outside.  He thinks blowing out candles is the coolest, and at 2 and 1/2, it pretty much is.
