Leland: 2 months

baby baby

Leland,

You've come a long way this past month, and I'm starting to get you figured out.  You're getting easier, and easier.

Super Baby!
When you're done, you're done--eating, ready to sleep, tummytime--you let us know QUICK!

We have abandoned the swaddle.  When you sleep, you splay out like a starfish, arms up over your head.  I can now put you down for naps and bed time when you are sleepy, but not dead asleep, and you will put yourself to sleep.

I can tell when I can put you down to sleep because you'll look both ways real quick and then do flutter and eye roll.

When you're sleepy, we stroke your head from back to front, and you'll close your eyes with each stroke.  It totally cracks us up--like we are literally shutting you off.

You slept 10 hours last night!!!  And the night before 8 hours!!!  Only thing is your self designated bedtime is 5:30--so that means you're up at around 2.  Let's push that back a little bit, eh?

This is the face that looks up at me 99% of the time.
You still look at me with intense concern and seriousness.  I live for your gummy smiles.

When you get excited and smile, you'll give a little flick of your eyebrows.  Cracks us up!

You love to coo and squawk on your play mat.  When your watch the mobile, you are usually quiet, soaking it allll in.  But, always kick, kick, kicking away.

We caught the tail-end of a smile...
You and Jude now share a room.  He sleeps right through your wails in the night.  Although, one time I walked in to hear Jude saying, "be quiet. be quiet Leland."

You eat soooo fast, and have the biggest burps.

Your hungry cry goes from one little squawk to a huuuuuge wail in 0.5 seconds.  If I put you down, or do something you don't want me to do, you cry out like you are personally offended or physically hurt.

You found your hands!  You'll suck on them when your binky falls out. When I go to feed you at night, your hands are ice.

Tummy time??  Not so much.  We've started to prop you up on your tummy on the boppy and that seems to work for you.  Even so, you have really great head control.

  1. Oh my gosh. He is getting big and cute so fast that I can hardly stand it. You guys have said that he has a little temper. I found out this weekend. Such a sweet smile and such an angry little wail. Nothing better than snuggly with my little buddies.
