Wanting to just do something fun and memorable for our 5 year anniversary.
Because sitting at the table one night Dave and I recalled our anniversaries like this:
1st: A weekend up at a fancy hotel complete with first timer pregnancy sickness. Bleh.
2nd: Nuffing, b/c he was working on a movie set.
3rd: A real spurlger of a weekend in Napa Valley which was one of our all time favorite trips.
4th: Homemade dinner, roses, and a presidential debate...with a side of 2 week old Leland.
So, you see, something fun and memorable was in order. And we ended up hopping a ride up in a balloon over in Heber. The morning was clear and frosty. Our balloon-mates were a cute older couple and a threesome of people so strange we could not figure out how they were all together (ahem, but we did, of course, guess). Dave got to hold the balloon open while heat was pumped in. I watched. Up in the sky was so, so great. So serene, the world below still and quiet. Beautiful with the fall leaves and the wispy clouds. I couldn't get over the fact that a basket was keeping me alive, suspending me up in the balloon in the sky. And then, just as we had our fill, we landed with a little thud. Champagne toast. And we were done.
Way up in the sky in my beautiful balloon.....We will float among the stars together, you and I, up in the sky....
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to begin year six. Keep floating.....
